Susan and Lisa met while working at the NPOI (Navy Precision Optical Interferometer). It's a unique instrument which combines the light from several small telescopes as if they were all one. We also operated the DCT (Discovery Channel Telescope). We're friends and professional telescope operators. Together we set the all-time record for the most NPOI scans in a single night. We make a great team!
Susan hails from Sacramento, California with a B.S. in Computer Engineering. She has more than 20 years of technical and astronomy outreach experience with Hewlett Packard, the Sacramento Astronomical Society, Lowell Observatory, and the Coconino Astronomical Society.
Lisa is originally from southern Wisconsin and earned her B.S. in Astrophysics from the University of New Mexico, and a Graduate Certificate of Astronomy from Swinburne University in Melbourne, Australia. She's a veteran of the Air Force, a former electronic technician, operator, and data analyst for the National Radio Astronomy Observatory; as well as an astronomy instructor, and observer at Lowell Observatory. She has some 25 years of technical and astronomy outreach experience.
We love observing together and want to share our enthusiasm for the night sky with you!
